How much gets spent on the legislative branch?

The FirstBranch Forecast has done yeoman’s work to cull “all of the spending bills for the last quarter-century and lined up the spending items in a downloadable spreadsheet. Now you can see how spending on each line-item has changed from 1994 forward.”

The data are available as an Excel file so you can slice and dice it as you see fit. Above is a chart I created in a couple of minutes that displays spending on the Speaker’s office (unadjusted for inflation) for the past five years.

You can check out these data for yourself at https://firstbranchforecast.com/2020/01/21/follow-the-money-25-years-of-congressional-budget-information-all-in-once-place/
