FDR v. Obama’s Leadership
David Westen wrote an article in the NYT comparing Obama’s leadership to FDR. This is a pretty vogue comparison because it compares two Democratic presidents in the myst of an economic recession (or depression). It’s poignant because we expect larger than life leaders to steer us to safety in times like this. The basic conclusion, as you might expect, is Obama lacks the leadership that the nation needs in its time of peril. As Eric Schickler notes, this is a nice narrative but not exactly the best analysis. It’s a good read that puts both presidencies into perspective.
