ICYMI: Members of Congress Publish Essays On the State of Congress
The July 2016 copy of PS: Political Science and Politics carries essays by four members of Congress (one former and three current). This unusual and happy development was the work of Prof. Michael H. Crespin and Anthony J. Madonna. The pieces are:
- Former Rep. John J. Barrow (D-GA), “Partisan Rules Make Congress Much Weaker Than It Has to Be”;
- Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), “Curing the Cancer of Congressional Dysfunction”;
- Rep. David E. Price (D-NC), “Congressional-Executive Balance in the Era of Congressional Dysfunction”; and
- Rep. Dina Titus (D-NV), “Is Congress the ‘Broken Branch’ of Government?”
The issue also carries an essay by Profs. Crespin and Madonna that teases out the commonalities of the aforementioned pieces, and offers astute operations on the state of Congress.
