“I think it’s embarrassing for the country to allow protestors.” – President Trump
Responding to the actions of the 70 demonstrators removed from the committee room throughout day one of Supreme Court Justice Nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing, President Trump exclaimed “I don’t know why they don’t take care of a situation like that. I think it’s embarrassing for the country to allow protestors. You don’t even know what side the protestors are on.” Regardless of the side one is on, the right to peacefully protest is a fundamental democratic norm, not an embarrassment.
